Dear Church Family,

Freedom. It’s one of those concepts that mean different things to different people. For followers of Christ, we are free from the guilt and punishment of our sins: “It is for freedom that Christ set us free.” But many of us are still living in bondage, whether it is a secret addiction, a broken relationship, unresolved guilt, or just the all too common bondage of financial debt that comes with poor financial choices. I believe the church in America is full of people who are living under the bondage of sin and disobedience towards God. That’s why Annistown Road Baptist church is engaging in “Operation Freedom.” This will be a 13-week emphasis on seizing the freedom Christ died to give us so that we can be the followers He desires and the church He desires.

We’ll start this campaign by focusing on the topic that Jesus spoke about more than any other, a topic that affects each of us daily: money. God knows money is an important part of our lives, and He wants us to be free of the chains that poor money management can place on us. Chains that can keep you from being the Christian you are designed to become. Imagine for just a second what you could do if you didn’t owe anything to anyone – if you were completely debt free. What could you do for your family? For other people? For the kingdom of God? That’s exactly what we’re about to find out together.

It’s been a long time since money has proved to be such a source of stress and concern for American families. Right now, 7 out of 10 people in America are living paycheck to paycheck. They’ve got too much month left at the end of the money! As a church, we want to do something about it. We want to help teach exactly what the Bible says about how to handle money so you can live in freedom.

As part of Operation Freedom we’re going to be asking everyone to participate in a 13-week class called Financial Peace University (FPU). The course is based on biblical principles, and we have already started seeing the incredible impact it has on peoples’ lives – and not just financially.

More than one million families all over the nation have taken FPU. Here are some of the things they’ve experienced: Less stress about money and life in general. Better communication in marriage and no more money fights! Confidence about their future and a feeling of empowerment.

The class covers everything from the basics of budgeting and saving to real estate and investing in a way that’s easy to understand and fun! And it’s all rooted in the timeless truths of God’s Word. The average family pays off $5300 and saves $2700 just during the 13-week course.

Over the course of the fall, Operation Freedom will start to shed some light on other areas of life that tend to enslave us and prevent us from being the people God wants us to be. We can’t wait to see what God does as we seek to honor Him, and claim the life of freedom that Christ bought for us on the cross. There are more details soon to come, but please make plans to join the church family on this exciting journey.

About the Tutoring Ministry…..

* Outreach Ministry to students and their families in the ARBC area

* Monday nights 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.beginning September 12^th, 2011.

* No teaching experience needed!

* We need tutors for kindergarten to calculus – Every grade and subject in-between!

* Tutors of elementary school-aged students will work with one student; middle and high school tutors may work with a small group of students.

* Attend the Tutor  Session at7:00 p.m., Monday August 29th, at the Church in the Fellowship Hall.

Our folks have always been very generous, so please bring your donation of rice and put it in the shopping cart in the upper foyer.
